New Mexico Initiative Supports Recently Terminated Federal Workers

A trio of New Mexico government entities are teaming to launch a support initiative offering aid to those recently separated from federal employment.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham recently announced the effort, led by the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions, in partnership with the State Personnel Office and the Economic Development Department.

The initiative includes a dedicated resource web page, recruitment events, and access to education and training opportunities, according to a statement from Gov. Lujan Grisham’s office. The state has also hosted recent recruitment events designed to connect federal workers with immediate opportunities with New Mexico state agencies, private sector businesses and local municipalities.

Offering information on unemployment insurance, job search and career support, and answers to frequently asked questions, the dedicated resource page seeks to provide a centralized hub that streamlines access to critical resources for affected workers, according to the statement. Those interested in career opportunities within state government may see openings on the State Personnel website, www.spo.state.nm.us.

“We are committed to ensuring that New Mexicans who have been abruptly dismissed from federal jobs have the resources and support they need to transition smoothly into new career opportunities,” said Gov. Lujan Grisham, in a statement. “Our state agencies and partners are mobilizing to provide job assistance, education and training to help our workforce thrive.”
