President-Elect

PSHRA accepts nominations yearly for association president-elect. The individual is expected to serve as president the year after their term and past president in the subsequent year. This is a six-year commitment. The person elected will serve as President-Elect in 2027 & 2028, President in 2029 & 2030, and Past-President in 2031 & 2032.

The application period for the 2027 & 2028 President-Elect will be open from March 16, 2026 until April 17, 2026.

Executive Council

The Executive Council is the governing body of PSHRA. Executive Council members are the fiduciaries who adopt a high-level strategy to steer the organization toward a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure PSHRA has adequate resources to advance its mission.

The application period for Executive Council will be open from March 16, 2026 until April 17, 2026.

Committee Opportunities

Advisory Committees

The PSHRA Advisory Committees provide insight and guidance on PSHRA chapters. There are four Advisory Committees: PSHRA West Advisory Committee; PSHRA Central Advisory Committee;  PSHRA South Advisory Committee; and PSHRA East Advisory Committee. The Committees are made up of members from those geographic areas.  

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee is responsible for evaluating the nominations for the association’s annual Honorary Life Membership, the PSHRA Agency Awards for Excellence, PSHRA Chapter Award of Excellence.

Certification Advisory Board

The advisory board is responsible for providing oversight and guidance to the PSHRA certification program. The appointment is for three years, and all committee members must be PSHRA certified.

Conference Committee

The committee serves as the annual conference subject matter experts, whose main responsibility will be to review session proposals and identify educational content that meets the needs of our members with current industry, technologies, and trends content. Committee members must be able to attend the current year conference at their own expense.

Fellowship Committee

The committee is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the applications of 1) PSHRA members for the association’s graduate study fellowships, and 2) scholarships for the children of PSHRA members seeking undergraduate degrees. The committee members make recommendations to the Executive Council of the individuals who will receive the fellowships and scholarships.

Publications Committee

The committee reviews and evaluates PSHRA's magazine publication, advises on the direction of the editorial calendar, and develops partnerships for content.

Research Committee

The committee works to identify critical issues in the public sector human resources profession and identifies research opportunities to develop and promote organizational success.

Veterans Committee

The Veterans Committee is dedicated to creating pathways and a supportive environment for veterans to transition into local, state and federal government roles. The committee will provide PSHRA with insights and guidance to support the recruitment, integration, and retention of veterans in the public sector. Committee members with a military background preferred.

Webinar Speakers

PSHRA encourages members to bring their knowledge of current or emerging issues in public sector HR to other members through our webinars. You can choose to be an individual speaker or a panel discussion.

Trainer Opportunities

To advance PSHRA's mission, we are recruiting trainers to provide educational opportunities for all Public Sector HR levels of experience. PSHRA strives to provide its members with quality trainers who have broad public sector knowledge and a strong commitment to training.

PSHRA seeks member contributions for HR News magazine. We encourage you to share your successes, real-world insights, strategies, and case studies in an article format. Learn More.
