The City of Torrance is recruiting for a Principal Human Resources Analyst to join our dynamic and passionate Human Resources Team!
As a Principal HR Analyst, you’ll play a critical role in executing Human Resource initiatives that positively impact our employees, departments, and community. The incumbent will be a member of the HR Leadership team and will play an essential role in modernizing the workflow of the City’s Benefits Administration. This position will provide operational management and effective guidance to our benefits office. This dynamic HR professional will plan and partner with City Departments to support the execution of programs and initiatives in talent acquisition, culture change, performance management, talent management and development, employee and labor relations, leaves and reasonable accommodation management, and organization effectiveness. This role will report to the HR Director and will provide both hands on strategic support and HR partnership to assigned City Departments. They will serve as a trusted advisor to City management and employees.
The ideal candidate will bring an HR generalist background with an emphasis in benefits administration. They will bring strong management skills and provide effective direction to the benefits office. The incumbent will also be a team-player in supporting large-scale change efforts in the department. The successful candidate will be results-oriented, flexible, and customer service focused. In addition, strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with department managers, public officials, employees, and union representatives is a must! The ideal candidate will have wide-ranging knowledge in all areas of HR, be an agent of organizational change, and provide guidance and mentorship to staff and the employees we serve.
Job Requirements
Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and skills required is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Psychology or a related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional Human Resources experience which includes at least one
(1) year of lead or supervisory experience of at least one major human resources program.
