Job Description
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs the County’s comprehensive Human Resources, employee-recruitment/selection, classification/compensation, organizational development, employee relations, benefits, and risk management programs.
Key responsibilities include:
* Directing recruitment, classification, compensation, training, and organizational development programs
* Advising County leadership on human resources, labor relations, employee relations, and workplace issues
* Overseeing grievance, appeal, discipline, and employee-employer relations processes
* Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and California employment laws and regulations
* Directing workers’ compensation, insurance, loss control, liability, and safety programs
* Preparing and managing the department’s annual budget
* Supervising, evaluating, and developing department staff
* Preparing reports and recommendations for the Board of Supervisors and regulatory agencies
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, or a related field, and five years of increasingly responsible experience in human resources administration, risk management, and labor relations, including at least two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
