Job Description

Santa Cruz (pop. 63,000) is located in one of the most beautiful areas in California on the sunny, northern side of Monterey Bay. As the economic, cultural, and governmental center of the region, Santa Cruz has a flourishing and diverse local economy based on tourism, retail, agriculture, services, and high-tech industry.

Santa Cruz seeks a well-rounded public sector HR professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong operational leadership and the ability to implement organizational change. This hands-on change agent will lead transformational initiatives that improve HR operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces continuous improvement, and has a demonstrated ability to solve organizational challenges. Exceptional communication, sound judgment, and interpersonal, change, and conflict management skills are key to success in this role.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will have 5 years of increasingly responsible professional government experience in the administration of a full-service HR program, including 3 years of administrative and supervisory experience and a Bachelor’s degree. Depth in labor relations will be considered favorably but not required.
