A new survey from Gallup finds half of employed American adults saying they use AI in their work at least occasionally, with more than a quarter using the technology on a daily basis.

The poll of 23,717 U.S. employees “suggests the growing presence of AI is beginning to reshape workplace dynamics,” according to a statement from the Washington, D.C.-based analytics and advisory company.

The percentage of respondents saying they use AI as part of their jobs at least a few times a year (50%) is up from 46% last quarter, according to Gallup, which also found frequent AI use increasing. Thirteen percent of employees said they are now using AI daily, with 28% reporting they use it a few times a week or more.

In addition, 41% of workers said their organization has integrated AI technology or tools to improve organizational practices, up three points from the previous quarter.

In terms of AI’s impact on productivity, 65% of respondents within organizations implementing the technology say it has improved their productivity and efficiency, regardless of how often they use AI. Sixteen percent say the effect has been extremely positive, while fewer than one in 10 say AI has had a negative impact on their work.

Still, the benefits of workplace AI use “appear concentrated on the level of individual tasks rather than broader workplace systems,” according to Gallup, which found about one in 10 employees in AI-adopting organizations strongly agreeing that AI has transformed how work gets done in their organization.

“The gap between reported individual and firm-level productivity suggests that while AI is helping many employees work more efficiently, many organizations have not yet fundamentally redesigned workflows, roles or processes around AI.”
