Fairfax County, Va. has begun installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for public and fleet vehicles at its headquarters.
The EV charging stations will be the first designed for public use at Fairfax’s Government Center, according to a Fairfax County statement, which said that construction on the project began on June 29.
Part of the County’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by the year 2040, the plan is to install six dual chargers for 12 parking spaces, with an additional six future dual charger bases, according to the county. There will also be four single chargers for four accessible parking spaces. County fleet vehicles will have 10 dual chargers for 20 parking spaces, with an additional 10 future dual charger bases.
