Colleges Offer Tuition Discounts for Pennsylvania Government Employees and Families
As part of what Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration calls its “commitment to ensuring all Pennsylvanians have the opportunity to succeed,” two colleges recently joined a handful of other institutions to offer tuition discounts for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employees and their families.
According to a recent statement from Shapiro’s office, York College of Pennsylvania is now offering a tuition discount for dependents of Commonwealth employees. Eligible family members who are enrolled full-time in a four-year degree program will receive a tuition reduction of $6,000 per year from the school, which already provides a 15% discount on tuition for graduate and professional programs to eligible Commonwealth employees.
Both Commonwealth employees and their dependents are eligible to receive a 10% tuition discount and waived application fees on select online graduate degree programs at Russell Sage College. The programs include criminal justice and community corrections, health services administration and organization management.
Other higher education institutions currently extending similar discounts to Commonwealth of Pennsylvania workers and their families include Elizabethtown College, which offers a 15% discount on all undergraduate programs for Commonwealth employees and their dependents.
Commonwealth employees and their spouses are eligible for a 25% tuition discount and waived application fees at Holy Family University. All undergraduate and graduate programs at Peirce College are available to Commonwealth employees at a 25% discount.
“By making higher education more affordable for our employees and their families, we are strengthening and empowering the workforce that serves all Pennsylvanians and cultivating the next generation of public servants and leaders,” said Pennsylvania Secretary of Administration Neil Weaver, in a statement.
“Tuition benefits help us attract high-caliber talent and support their development and growth. We appreciate York College of Pennsylvania’s ongoing collaboration and welcome Russell Sage College to our growing list of participating colleges and universities.”
