The Town of Bluffton, S.C. just started celebrating Public Service Recognition Week in recent years, according to Anni Evans, the Town’s director of human resources.
The weeklong event offers “a perfect opportunity” to highlight the critical work that the Town’s 146 employees do on a daily basis, Evans recently told PSHRA®.
PSRW also “falls right in line with the importance that we already place on recognizing employees and their hard work,” she added, sharing a number of events the Town of Bluffton has planned to recognize its employees throughout the week. For example:
- On Monday, May 5, employees will enjoy acai bowls from local food truck, Pitchin’ Berries. “It’s a crowd favorite every time we have them come,” said Evans.
- A large “Thank You” sign will be on display in the break room of the Town’s headquarters throughout the week, and employees are encouraged to add their own message, sharing what it means to them to be a public servant.
- The Town’s mayor will sign a proclamation for Public Service Appreciation Week.
- The Town’s communications department will host a social media campaign highlighting “our appreciation for all of our employees and the work they do,” said Evans.
- Town of Bluffton employees will end the week with donuts from a local donut shop.
“Our human capital is our greatest asset and without our diligent staff we wouldn’t be the organization that we are today,” said Evans. “So, [it’s important that we] that we place a high value on letting them know that what they do is valued and appreciated, in hopes that they feel like they are an important part of what gets done here at the Town. Along with them feeling valued, we hope it also boosts morale, and increases job satisfaction, productivity and retention.”
