Job Description

Grand Chute, Wisconsin’s largest town, seeks a collaborative, strategic leader to serve as its next Human Resources Director.  Located in the dynamic Fox Valley, Grand Chute is the region’s commercial and retail hub and one of the state’s fastest-growing communities. Residents enjoy big-city amenities in a quiet and safe community. The Fox River Mall anchors a regional shopping, hospitality, and entertainment district. Grand Chute is home to the main campus of Fox Valley Technical College, Neuroscience Field at Fox Cities Stadium, the Gordon Bubolz Nature Preserve, and an extensive network of trails and parks.

Following the retirement of its long-serving Human Resources Director, the Town is seeking a forward-thinking professional to lead a modern, service-oriented Human Resources Department serving approximately 168 full-time equivalent employees. The Human Resources Director will shape and implement policies and programs that attract, develop, and retain a high-performing workforce dedicated to providing exceptional service to the community.

The Human Resources Director reports to the Town Administrator. The Town is governed by a five-member non-partisan Board elected to staggered two-year terms. The Human Resources Department operates with three full-time staff positions and provides comprehensive services including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, collective bargaining support, compensation and classification administration, benefits oversight, policy development and compliance, safety and wellness programming, performance management, and workforce development.

The Director oversees implementation of strategic initiatives such as continued modernization of the Town’s Tyler Munis Human Capital Management modules, enhancement of safety and wellness programming, refinement of performance evaluation systems, monitoring of market-competitive compensation and benefits, and participation in collective bargaining negotiations. Duties include preparing and managing the annual departmental budget and presenting policy and compensation recommendations to the Town Board.

The salary range for this position is $116,272 to $149,510 DOQ, with an expected hiring range of $116,272 to $132,891, plus an excellent benefits package.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Human Resources or Business Administration. Candidates must have 8-9 years of progressive public sector human resources experience, including collective bargaining, employee relations, and policy development, along with 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) credentials are preferred.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of modern human resources principles; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; the ability to manage complex employee relations matters with professionalism and discretion; and the capacity to align HR strategies with broader organizational goals.

The Town may consider any equivalent combination of credentials, licensures, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.  Learn more about this exciting opportunity by reading the full position profile.
